Catch a fire
Luxuries were few and far between for our American soldiers serving tours in Vietnam, finding sanctity and solace had to be found in the midst of the rumors and realities of war. The words of wit and wisdom etched into the sides of a Zippo lighter was a simple luxury that soldiers relied on. Some smoked cigs, some smoked dope, some chased dragons, and i'm sure some burned down a few huts. The etched Zippo was a momento of morale that could be kept in your pocket. These simple lighters bear the emotions of young men who lived and died while serving under the stars and stripes. These lighters have since become an icon of the Vietnam war, it's an easy and safe peak into a hellish place for those of us who weren't there.
