SUPERHEAT "DEW TOUR" Portland, OR
Let me just say thanks for posting the William Cooper, I watched the whole thing.
Check This Out! I recently met up with my boy Justin down in Portland for the DEW Tour to hang out, and be a part of something really cool. I didn't realize what they were doing, decisions that they were making, dreams that they were living. I felt that I was witness to the grass roots of something that is about to blow up! For those that know Justin, he is an absolute character with a huge heart that will have your stomach hurting from laughing, freestylin, and just bustin shit out! These four guys are in it to win it. They all have a vital role in this game and I was amazed at how well they worked. The tent was jam packed with kids wanting to play this game, I began to help where I could. Justin was laying down Super Heat tattoo's for people waiting in line. While others were running the wheel, and teaching the game. Check out their Commercial and the pics that I took from the event! Enjoy! SUPERHEAT!!!

A good friend of mine recently opened A coffee shop in the Queen Village/Bella Vista area of Philadelphia, your average coffee club it is not. The place has A great feel with all the attention paid to detail in it's decor, I personally love the old Tastykake factory cafeteria style lunch table seating. Mat is also doing way cool stuff with the shop, he has had A few evening discussions on the topic of vintage baseball jerseys and history related to... There is A very intellectual feel associated to Shot Tower which is the yang that fits the ying when sharing A cup of coffee with A fellow neighbor or stranger. Even the name itself was well thought out and a homage to An icon in that particular neighborhood, that most people aren't aware of. The shot Tower was an old ammunition manufacturing factory. Shot Towers' latest project involves A native Philadelphia artist Stephen Powers, that Mat has A good working friendship with, and A limited print that Steve did for the shop. Stop in and pick one up.

Man vs.
For the last four years I've been saying I want to get on my bike and ride away from the stink of the city and get lost in the woods for a night. Every day off I would come up with an excuse.
"it's too hot"
"it's too cold"
"I've got to do this"
"I've got to do that"
I finally got myself out there, and I'm hooked. This summer I've caught the wilderness bug, it's been pretty awe-some. Vacation is winding down and I'm trying to pack as much time outdoors and on the road as I can.

don't sit on ideas...
Years ago I wanted to start A sneaker museum made up of sneakers of all makes and styles from old to new and so on and so forth, and I wanted it to eventually end up on some roadside americana tour pamphlet of weird and obscure sites to see...Like most ideas of mine it stayed deadstock and in the box, and like most ideas people have if you don't persue someone will... this is not A rant it's actually A nod to the people or person behind this SHOEZEUM, although its just NIKE sneakers it is well themed and pretty extensive as far as the collection goes...Pretty cool!
NEON...not related to American Apparel hipster outfits...
Way before the 80's neon fashion trend wave came crashing ashore, for its first trendy go round there was A time when neon meant something totally different. It was an actual craft and artistry that was displayed across the American city and rural landscapes meant to draw an attraction to the attraction... Neon was used as an extra alluring highlight to accompany usually A hand painted detailed sign that would be outlined with neon tubing filled with gas that would light up bright at night and with its minimal shape would have an easy iconic recognition of the theme that was meaning to be portrayed. I have traveled and photographed many of these signs across the country, been to museums filled with old signs and even early neon technologies of when the craft was first being used. I have A love for imagery that is simple and minimal yet all the right lines are used to capture what you want to be imagined by the onlooker. Neon signage is the epitomy of that particular formula and art. This art is slowly disappearing from our advertising world, being replaced by CORPORATE imagery that is boring and has practically no artistic value on society. I found these images online just to make this post i will have to dig through my pics and get some up in the near future to share with everyone.
Sidenote: My friend and fellow Luxador- Insatnt Sleep sent me that amazing photo we are using for the new BAD LUX header, the email said ..."right up your alley" and in so many ways he is right! Our family just made A huge move back to the suburbs to raise kids and live out our little piece of the American dream, and when I opened up the email and saw that pic it was more of an inspiration to myself of the direction I want to go with my life, I sat and looked at it and made instant comparisons of my life to that of the one in the picture, and it made me smile.
PEACE!
