Frieday

This week rapper Flavor Flav has opened a fried chicken restaurant in Clinton Iowa called “Flav’s Fried Chicken” aka FFC. Flav insists that although he's ready to give the colonel some competition, he's trying to be just as successful as KFC, which is coincidently situated next door to Flav's inaugural restaurant. The manager of the KFC store told TMZ.com that, “We’ve been in business since 1963, and we always welcomed competition. We have competed with six or seven brands over that time and as long as we take care of The Colonel’s chicken, we will be just fine.”

YEEAAAH BOYEEE!!

Don't Tread On SD

The San Diego Padres unveiled the team's new "Marine digital" camouflage jerseys which will be worn during Sunday home games this season. The Padres came up with the camo concept in 2000, the new look represents the third different jersey to be worn. The Marine design is harder to see than the previous Army and Navy Seal versions. "Our goal is to honor the men and women of the military," said Padres President and COO Tom Garfinkel.

Built To Last

Speaking of being made in the USA. Handmade in Minnesota for over 100 years, Red Wing just blessed me with a pair of black 8130's. I've been wanting these for a while now and was very excited to receive them. Thanks!!

Watch this video to learn some Red Wing history and see how a real boot is made.

USA Made!

I got this from the Cone Denim site. Cone was once the largest producer of cotton raised denim to the United States. With the outsourcing of jobs and different techniques(Cheaper/Faster) in producing denim, the once powerful Mill is a third closed down. Levi's if you were smart, you would get back to this place full time. You owe it to the Mill. Peep the video and enjoy how its made.

Once upon A time...

In what seems like an eternity away, there was A place that I like to call the good ol' USA where mills were milling, sewing machines were singing, jobs were in an abundance, and the American spirit was Alive and well felt by the hands that were making all the goods that made this country the place that I love. Almost everything was made here, and mostly local in factories in your town or neighborhood. The garment industry has since been sold down the road to the cheapest labor one could find. In this transition we have lost quality and character. Dry goods made here were made with pride, of quality materials and built to last, the finishing touch to those garments was the inside label depicting the companies name, logo and sometimes even A catchy or witty slogan. Throughout the last 15 years I have been heavy into vintage shopping and have come across very interesting brand labels in my digging. I never thought to take A pic, but I did stop for A second to appreciate the thought and design that was put into these labels. Here are some old labels that I found online that capture A special time in the long gone America that I love.
