beware this paint may contain lead, but pronounced LEED!

Society paints a pretty picture of freedoms, living your dreams, and success...but there are only a few who break out of the bubble to fulfill their own calling and their own manifestation of destiny. Proud to call this guy a friend!

Raiders of the lost art...

Have you ever been driving down a highway and passed an auto dealership and got a little chuckle out of the window splash paintings adorning the windshields of cars on the lot that are decorated with neon lettering and smirky slogans? I always wondered to myself who writes the ads and how do they have such cool old lettering technique, and how do I get a job doing that?! The small details accompanying the price,make/model and slogan always caught my eye too, just enough detail and 3d effects to tie it all together and lure your nonnatural born consumer instincts to the product being offered. There are numerous reasons why I adore this lost art form, it has small compliments of graffiti, sign painting, humor, and less is more approach. This post is my little homage to another art form that has went he way of vinyl cut stickers.

Iron Maid-ins...

Since the dawn of Blogs, Tumblr, and instagram we have all seen old photos that we have fallen in love with, in my research of the some of the pictures origin I have been schooled in history lessons, and lead down paths that have enlightened my enthusiasm to to the respected subject matters at hand. Onward to the point of this post, There was a particular photo posted on instagram by Plymouthfan that struck my interest due to it's beauty and subject matter. It wasn't the typical sleazy babe on a chopper pic that blogs are filled with, but yet it was a dame on a Harley davidson Knucklehead dressed to the nines with a simple smile and charismatic ora of class. I screen shot the pic sent it to a few friends to make sure they saw it and saved it in my photo album as a moment as to how cool people were before us, and how they pulled off cool without all the gimmicks. On a recent ebay and Amazon escapade, looking for xmas gifts I came across a book that made me sit up in my chair and look at the screen a little closer. Well, ill be dipped in sugar...there she was on the cover of a book titled.."The American Motorcycle Girls" Obviously a few clicks on a keypad, and a USPS delivery later the book landed at my doorstep. The book is about motorcycle gals from 1900-1950 it doesn't take a genius to know that these are years that I have a lot of passion for to begin with. Upon reading the book and looking at all the amazing pictures, I learned of a club called the Motor Maids. This was an all girls motorcycle owners group started in a time long before social media, and easy communication technologies. Letters were written to dealerships, and other riders inquiring names of Women that had purchased motorcycles, after which letters were written and sent to those women seeking interest and unity as woman owners. They formed in 1941 with 50 woman and have their own charter in the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) They are still a functioning fraternity of women riders today. Here are some pics to color this post. Here is the picture I spoke of that started this... Sidenote: These girls are way cooler then most of these jock straps I see trying to look like the next man with their denim cuts and fake outlaw lifestyles.

anti-social studies...

I like to believe that we are supposed to be students of the world and all that it has to offer, I am always in search of inspiring things that transcend my intellectual and imaginative interests of the ticking time bomb we call life...
