The other day when I was looking for the sneaker coloring book art to scan in, I rediscovered some old drawings that I did in my younger of days. They are not dated, but I am guessing they are from 1987 -1991. Drawing and doodling has always been a staple in my life. At a young age I was inspired by my uncles, and Father who are talented artists that never did anything with it besides teach and inspire me. I was tranqued by their talent, and wanted to learn as much, and as fast as I could so I could draw like them. My one uncle Wistar in particular was way talented and he loved to draw, he drew with intricate detail, and precision, but usually had a hint of humor. Drawing was his sanctity and he was loved for it, he was the single most influential artist in my entire life, out of all my 8 uncles he was the only one who wasn't an alcoholic and or drug addict, and he was the baby of a family of 8 boys. When I was A kid he would smoke grass with my other uncles and come sit and draw with me for hours on end showing me how to draw, and drawing me pictures of anything I asked him too. As life can be effed up some pussy shot and killed my uncle when he was only 25 years old, and took a special part of our family away. If that wasn't bad enough an ex-wife of my other uncle took all Wistar's drawings and artwork and either sold them or kept them for her self (supposedly she sold them to someone). Since his death I have only seen 2 drawings that he did, out of thousands of sketches and drawings. In my mind I still see a gallery of his drawings with lucid clarity. Well thats a lil' history into the origins of my artistic endeavors and interests, I don't talk about him too much cause thats what we do as humans to protect ourselves from the pain, we hide it away, but I'm going to be honest I could cry as I type this entry thinking back to those great times as kid picking up on a hobby and love that I still enjoy to this day! I could only imagine being able to share the passion of drawing with my uncle Wistar today and seeing were he would have taken his talents. Here are a few doodles that I did in my early teens, pretty funny to look back at a time in your life and see it documented by your art.
